The basics

What are discussionsDiscussions allow you to dive into topic-specific forums to connect on what matters most to you. Think: volunteering, giving, ERGs, ambassador programs, grants management and navigating program risk.

How are discussions different from groups? Groups allow you to connect intentionally with peers in your specific industry or location whereas discussions allow you to dive deep into topic-specific forums.

How to get started

  1. To get started, head to discussions. Select Community discussions to easily see a menu of all the discussion topics you can choose from.

  1. Decide what section would be best for your question or the conversation you want to start. There are six sections you can choose from.

  1. Click + Create topic to begin your post.

  1. You will be prompted through a few simple sections. Once completed, click Create.

💡 You’ll be asked to choose if the topic you’re creating is a question or a conversation — how do you decide? Conversations tend to be more open-ended discussions whereas questions seek a clear directive.

✅ Questions also have a convenient feature where you and your peers can mark what response was most helpful. This allows others to easily find the most useful response when reading the thread.

What kind of topic are you creating: Decide if you’d like to ask a question or start a conversation on an insight you’d like to share

Title: Clearly summarize the content of your post

Description: Enter all the details of what you’d like to share so your peers can easily understand and jump in with their insights

Category: Confirm what section your post is most suited for (General, Giving, Volunteering, Employee mobilization, Grants management or Program and risk management)

Tags: Amplify your post even further by tagging in any specific themes (think: Giving Season, AI, matching offers...etc.)
